Balboa Peninsula Park is a beautiful place that you should visit. It’s one of the most popular parks near Newport Beach and it has so much to offer! There are tons of places to walk, jog, or bike – even surfers find their way out here. The park provides an incredible view of both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. There are also plenty of picnic areas for family gatherings or a relaxing lunch with friends on a sunny day. As if that weren’t enough, this public space offers everything from tennis courts and basketball courts to fishing piers and playgrounds for children! Balboa Peninsula Park is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a beautiful outdoor experience.
I recall the seaside of my childhood when I see Newport Beach’s Balboa Pier and Peninsula Park. Families are usually out shopping and dining, bikes are being ridden by youngsters, and visitors come in from time to time. Junior Lifeguards were in action that day we visited.
On the sand or beach adjacent to Balboa Pier, this playground is within walking distance of attractions such as Museo del Jamon. Play structure includes monkey bars, ladders, and slides, as well as a pretend play window in the ground. On the sand are large climbing panels with a rope course for youngsters, a baby bucket, and a kid.
The Newport Peninsula has two piers: the Newport Pier and the Balboa Pier. The Balboa Pier is at the far end of the Peninsula. Take I-405 to Ocean Beach and you’ll be on Newport Blvd (eventually turning into Balboa Blvd.). You’ll come to the labeled streets after going through all of the numbered streets. Early arrival is required for parking in the lots off Palm Street or B Street (turn right to enter). The machines take cash by the hour or day.
Newport Beach’s Balboa Pier, on the other side of town, is another good surfing location. The pier is open to fishing but most people will only want to go out and take a look back toward the peninsula or down upon the surfers riding the wave here.
A variety of eateries can be found on and near Balboa Pier, including restaurants in the vicinity of Balboa Boulevard and Main Street. A large free parking lot with an exit at Palm Street exists on the north side of the Balboa Pier. This lot gets full early in the day, and street parking is tough, so get there early.
